FUMC Bristol offers a variety of Sunday school classes for all age groups.  Classes meet at 9:30 AM throughout the church building.

Shaw-Anchor-Friendship Class

(Senior Adult Class) – Room E126

Each Sunday we begin with singing hymns and prayer.  The quarterly used is the Adult Bible Studies.  The Unit we are studying now is “The Pledge of God’s Presence.” The motto of the class is “Helping Others” and everyone is welcome to join us.

Acts 29

(Inter-generational Adult Class) – meeting in the Church Parlor

We in Acts 29 feel a call to be taking our faith into the world and to share our faith with others. We are studying the book of Matthew both through reading the Bible in different translations and using Max Lucado’s study of Matthew. Anyone interested is welcome to join us.

Algie Aubrey’s Class

(Inter-Generational Adult Class)

Most religions have sacred texts.  In some religions and in some certain denominations of Christianity these texts have been elevated to be worthy of worship themselves.  Some claim that the Bible is the inerrant word of God.  Other contemporary Christians, like Rob Bell, have questioned its relevance.  Misquoting Jesus, by Bart Ehrmann evaluates the organic nature of the text of The Bible.  Through the ages The Bible has been copied, translated, and changed.  What has complicated the matter is that none of the original tests used in constructing The Bible survive.

Our study will focus on what we as 21st Century Christians should make of The Bible using Ehrmann’s book as a backdrop.  Reading the book is encouraged but not a requirement to participate in our study.  We begin our study on March 8.  I will use the introduction of the book as the genesis of our discussion.

Fellowship Class
